*In Loving Memory and Deepest Tribute to Professor Tarni Jee*

It is with profound respect and a heavy heart that we pay homage to the illustrious Professor Tarni Jee (often fondly referred to as Professor Tarni Ji), a towering figure in the field of psychology in India, particularly in Bihar. A distinguished academic, visionary leader, prolific editor, and compassionate mentor, he left an indelible mark on generations of students, researchers, and professionals.
Professor Tarni Jee served with exemplary dedication as a Professor of Psychology at the P.G. Centre of Psychology, College of Commerce (now College of Commerce, Arts & Science), Patna, under Patliputra University (and previously affiliated institutions). His teaching career was characterized by intellectual rigor, empathy, and a deep commitment to nurturing young minds in the understanding of human behavior, mental processes, and psychological well-being.
As President of the Indian Psychological Association (IPA), he provided dynamic leadership to one of India’s premier psychological bodies, fostering unity, research excellence, and professional growth among psychologists nationwide. He also held the esteemed position of President of the Bihar Psychological Association (BPA), where he tirelessly worked to strengthen the discipline in his home state, promoting mental health awareness, ethical practices, and regional research initiatives.
A stalwart in scholarly publishing, Professor Tarni Jee served as Editor of several psychological journals, shaping the discourse in Indian psychology through his editorial vision and commitment to quality. He was also an Advisor to the International Journal of Indian Psychology (IJIP), contributing his wisdom to an open-access platform that bridged Indian perspectives with global psychological scholarship.
His contributions extended beyond titles—he was a bridge-builder who integrated traditional Indian thought with contemporary psychological science, encouraged empirical research rooted in cultural contexts, and inspired countless scholars to pursue excellence with integrity.
Professor Tarni Jee’s legacy lives on in the classrooms he illuminated, the associations he strengthened, the journals he enriched, and the many lives he touched through his guidance and kindness. He exemplified the true spirit of a guru: wise, humble, and profoundly dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and human understanding.
Though he may no longer be among us physically, his influence endures in every psychologist trained in Bihar, every published paper he mentored, and every mind he helped expand.
We bow in gratitude and salute his lifelong service to the noble science of psychology.
